A Walk in the Woods

These days don’t last. These perfect Dogtown days — the ones where you don’t need layers, but you don’t yet need bug spray either. Days without tourists, when a mid-day walk can feel like you’ve got Dogtown all to yourself.

Those are the kind of walks where you let your mind wander. And on this day, my mind wandered to my favorite poet, David Whyte, who writes a lot about walking. For this video, a walk with my dog, Tuukka, at Woodland Acres in Pigeon Cove, I included a favorite: Whyte’s, “A Seeming Stillness,” as the narration, and set it to the music of Nils Frahm and his song “My Friend the Forest.” Perfect, right?
